Works With
The Yale Assure Lock Wi-Fi Lever is a solid choice for smart home users seeking broad ecosystem support and touchscreen convenience, but it’s less suited for those needing physical key backups or with unreliable Wi-Fi.
The Yale Assure Lock Smart Lock Wi-Fi Lever with Touchscreen Keypad offers a solid blend of security and convenience for those looking to upgrade their entryway. Its biggest strengths lie in its compatibility across major ecosystems like Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit, making it a versatile choice for mixed smart home setups. The touchscreen keypad is responsive and allows for keyless entry, which is handy for families or frequent guests. The black suede finish gives it a modern, subtle look that fits well with most door styles. However, it does have some limitations. The lock relies on Wi-Fi for remote access, which can introduce latency or occasional connectivity drops, especially if your home Wi-Fi signal is weak near the door. Battery life typically lasts around 6-9 months depending on usage, but some users report needing to replace batteries more often if the lock is used heavily or in colder climates. Another downside is the price point at around $220, which is higher than some comparable models without offering significantly more features. This lock is perfect for homeowners who want a sleek, touchscreen smart lock with broad ecosystem support and are comfortable with occasional battery changes. It’s less ideal for renters or those with unreliable Wi-Fi, or anyone who prefers a lock with built-in physical key backup rather than just keypad and app access. Overall, it fits well in a smart home where convenience and integration matter more than budget or ultra-robust physical security features.

Ecosystem
Upgrade your door with the Assure Lever, a smart keypad lever lock for key-free entry. The lever has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth so it allows you to lock/unlock, share access and see who comes and goes all using your app, from anywhere! For ultimate convenience, your Assure Lever will unlock automatically as you approach the door and it will relock once the door is closed! Plus, you can lock, unlock or check current status with voice assistants including Amazon Alexa, Hey Google or Siri. The lock features a backlit keypad so even when you don't have your phone, you can unlock your door without the hassle of keys. It's super easy to use and installs in minutes with just a screwdriver on standard doors (1-3/8" to 1-3/4" thick). Compatible with doors with no deadbolt (i.e. side entry, garage entry, basement, home office, etc.)
Connectivity
No Matter, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread, IFTTT, or SmartThings support; requires Wi-Fi for full features.
Compared to the August Wi-Fi Smart Lock, the Yale Assure Lock offers native touchscreen keypad access, whereas August relies mainly on app and physical key, which some users prefer for quick entry. However, August generally has a simpler installation and slightly better battery life. The Schlage Encode Smart Wi-Fi Lock is another competitor with a built-in alarm and slightly faster response times, but it lacks Apple HomeKit support, which Yale includes. The Yale lock’s ecosystem versatility is a plus, but its price is a bit higher than Schlage’s. So, if you prioritize ecosystem integration and a touchscreen keypad, Yale is a good pick; if you want built-in alarms or longer battery life, Schlage or August might be better choices.
Installation difficulty rates around 3 out of 5 for someone moderately handy. It typically takes 30-45 minutes and requires a screwdriver and possibly a drill for some door types. The lock fits standard doors but can be tricky if your door or existing hardware is non-standard. Clear instructions are included, but some users find aligning the touchscreen lever challenging. Professional installation is not necessary but can be helpful if you’re unfamiliar with door hardware or want to ensure optimal Wi-Fi placement.
Daily use is generally reliable with quick response times when locking or unlocking via the app or keypad. The app interface is straightforward but occasionally experiences minor connectivity delays, especially if Wi-Fi signal near the door is weak. Battery life is decent but varies; heavy users should expect to change batteries every 6-9 months. Some users report occasional keypad unresponsiveness in very cold weather. Overall, it performs well for typical home use but isn’t perfect in challenging network or environmental conditions.
